Jeremiah is descended from a long line of Jewish potters. His name comes from the prophet Jeremiah who said that just like clay in the potter’s hands, so is Israel in the Lord’s hands. Jeremiah loves the feeling of the clay as he works at the potter’s wheel, and how this lump of wet dirt in his hands becomes something beautiful and lasting.
Today he is making a cup that will be used for Passover. “How many family seder meals will be celebrated with this special cup?” he wonders as he makes the wheel go round and round, and the stars begin to illuminate the winter sky.
